Whenever he walked through the market and saw a small dress adorned with flowers, his steps would involuntarily stop, his eyes shining with longing, and his heart would whisper, "When will I buy my daughter a dress like this?" Whenever he saw a little girl playing with her father in the street, he would turn to his wife, his eyes overflowing with hope: "When will we have a daughter to bring back the tenderness to our home? A daughter I can cherish, a princess of my heart?" And finally... Jouri arrived. After a long wait and years of anticipation, God answered the prayer, and Jouri was born. Jouri was more than just a child; she was the fulfillment of a long-held dream, the only one to be cherished among her brothers. From the very first day, Jouri received a pampering no one else ever received. Her father would return home from work exhausted, carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, but the moment he opened the door, all his weariness would vanish. He wasn't looking for rest or food; he would go straight to little Jouri's crib. He would lift her gently, as if she were a precious piece of glass, hold her close to his loving chest, and shower her tiny face with tender kisses, laughing wholeheartedly: "My darling Jouri, my long-awaited dress." Unfulfilled Dreams We watched Jouri grow day by day, and we and her father made plans for the years to come. He dreamed of the day she would walk beside him, hand in hand, the day she would go to kindergarten, and the white dress he would wear for her every holiday. We dreamed of so much more... but joy in this country is born incomplete. And then, in a moment of inattention, her father was martyred. The man with the warm embrace is gone, the one who bought her dresses and showered her with kisses is gone. He left, leaving Jouri when she was only three years old. Too young to grasp the loss, yet old enough for the child to feel that a great sense of security had vanished. The Father's Lasting Scent Today, Jouri stands before his picture. She no longer hears his footsteps, nor does she feel his daily kisses that used to begin her evenings. But whenever she puts on a dress, she twirls around and looks up at the sky, as if to tell her martyred father: "Look, Father... I am your beloved princess, just as you always wanted." Their joy in this world was incomplete, but Jouri will grow up knowing that she was the most beautiful dream, the precious wish her father lived to nurture, and that his spirit will continue to watch over her dress and her affection from the heights of heaven.
