His small body bore the weight of health issues that required special care, but he possessed a heart brimming with life. Because of his condition, Ryan was his father's darling and closest confidant. His father was more than just a parent; he was his shield and support, the one whose touch, like a magic wand, could heal Ryan's weariness the moment he held him close. They shared an unchanging daily ritual. The moment Ryan caught sight of his father's shadow approaching, he would forget all his pain and physical exhaustion, running with all his might and innocence, to throw himself into that warm embrace that always awaited him with open arms and a smile that erased all the world's worries. One night, a night of profound loss, Ryan's father was martyred. As the house filled with people and the sounds of weeping and wailing filled the air, Ryan stood in a corner of the room, gazing with bewildered innocence. At the age of six, Ryan couldn't grasp the concepts of "death" or "martyrdom." For him, death was a vague word that didn't signify his father's eternal absence. He would ask with childlike curiosity: "Mommy, why is everyone crying? Where's Daddy? When will he come back to hug me?" The answers would choke in the throat of his grieving mother, who could only hold him close as she wept, leaving the days to explain to the little boy the meaning of silent loss. The days passed, and Ryan remained true to his ways. Every afternoon, he would stand on the doorstep, gazing listlessly at the street with sad, longing eyes. He would see the other children's fathers return, and that old yearning would stir within him. One day, he spotted someone who resembled his father from behind. Without hesitation, he ran with all his might, panting, his heart pounding, shouting, "Daddy! Daddy!" But when the man turned around, Ryan's small feet froze in place. It wasn't him. At that very moment, hot tears streamed down Ryan's face, and for the first time, he felt the true sting of loss in his small chest. He realized that the embrace he had always run to had moved to a place far, farther away, a place in heaven. Show less
